Although I prefer to carry my Springfield Compact
during the summer in Texas it is a bit large. I started looking at the
new compact carry guns, and ended up buying a Kahr K40. The Kahr is as small
as any of the .380s, but can shoot either 9mm or .40 S&W. It's a single-stack
gun, which makes it flatter than the micro-Glocks, and it has a slightly longer
grip and barrel, which made it easier for me to grip and shoot. The double-action
only trigger isn't as shootable as the Glock trigger, but the DAO trigger is
smooth. It's like shooting a well-tuned DA revolver. The Kahr in the picture
is the blued model with Trijicon night sights as a factory option. I added a
piece of skateboard tape across the frontstrap to give it a little more bite
on my grip.
